Artikel 9 Ersättning

This article deals with the financial compensation arrangements for experts serving on the scientific panel.

It establishes that remuneration is not automatic for all panel members, but is conditional on being appointed to a specific role — namely as a rapporteur or contributor — and only where the task has been formally requested by the AI Office.

Beyond remuneration, the article also addresses the reimbursement of expenses incurred by experts in connection with their panel activities, with the Commission responsible for covering these costs subject to available budgetary resources.

Important points:

• Experts are only entitled to remuneration if they have been appointed as a rapporteur or contributor for tasks requested by the AI Office under Article 68(3) of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689.
• The Commission is responsible for reimbursing travel and, where the Secretariat considers appropriate, subsistence expenses of experts.
• Expense reimbursements are subject to the limits of available appropriations allocated to the Commission departments under the annual budget procedure.
