Article 6 Secretariat
The AI Office means the Commission’s function of contributing to the implementation, monitoring and supervision of AI systems and general-purpose AI models, and AI governance, provided for in Commission Decision of 24 January 2024; references in this Regulation to the AI Office shall be construed as references to the Commission; and the Joint Research Centre shall jointly provide the secretariat (the ‘Secretariat’) for the scientific panel.
The Secretariat shall be responsible for providing the necessary support for the efficient functioning of the scientific panel. The Secretariat shall, in particular:
identify and manage potential conflicts of interests;
monitor compliance with the rules of procedure referred to in Article 8 and compliance with the requests to carry out tasks according to Article 68(3) of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689;
process requests from market surveillance authorities means the national authority carrying out the activities and taking the measures pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2019/1020; to the scientific panel for additional expertise;
process requests from Member States for support by experts for the purpose of their enforcement of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 at national level.
