Summary What does Article 2 of the RTS on sustainability indicators say?

This article establishes two straightforward obligations relating to the sustainability information contained in crypto-asset white papers as required under Regulation (EU) 2023/1114 (MiCA).

It sets a baseline expectation for the ongoing accuracy of disclosed information, and introduces a practical allowance that reduces duplication of effort where multiple crypto-assets share the same underlying infrastructure.

Important points:

Persons drawing up crypto-asset white papers must review and update the climate and environment-related information in those white papers on a regular basis.
Where the required information already exists in another crypto-asset white paper for a crypto-asset using the same consensus mechanism, that information may be sourced from that other white paper rather than independently produced.
This article directly supports the disclosure requirements set out in Articles 4 and 5 of this Regulation, which govern the format and content of the sustainability indicators to be reported.
