Article 1 Definitions
Summary What does Article 1 of the Methodology for calculating the supervisory fee say?
This is a definitions article that establishes the core terminology used throughout the regulation.
It anchors three key concepts that are essential for understanding how the supervisory fee regime operates, directly feeding into the calculation and charging mechanisms set out in later articles, particularly Articles 4 and 5.
Important points:
- A designated service refers to a very large online platform or very large online search engine formally designated under Article 33(4) of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065.
- A provider of designated service or services is any provider to whom a Commission designation decision under that same provision is addressed.
- The basic amount is a per-service calculation figure derived under Article 4, before any cap under Article 5 is applied.
Springlex's summary of the article is a reading aid, not a substitute for the legal text.
