Article 51 Amendment to Directive (EU) 2019/1937

Summary What does Article 51 of the DMA regulation say?

This is a brief, technical amendment article that connects the Digital Markets Act to Directive (EU) 2019/1937, which is the EU Whistleblower Protection Directive.

Its sole purpose is to add the Digital Markets Act to the list of Union legal acts covered by that Directive, meaning that persons who report breaches of the Digital Markets Act will fall under the whistleblower protections established by that Directive.

This article works in tandem with Article 43 of this Regulation, which explicitly states that Directive (EU) 2019/1937 applies to the reporting of breaches of this Regulation.

‘Regulation (EU) 2022/1925 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 September 2022 on contestable and fair markets in the digital sector and amending Directives (EU) 2019/1937 and (EU) 2020/1828 (Digital Markets Act) (OJ L 265, 21.9.2022, p. 1).’
