Artikel 42 Änderung der Verordnung (EU) Nr. 910/2014

Summary What does Article 42 of the NIS 2 directive say?

This is a brief transitional/amendment article that makes a targeted change to an existing piece of EU legislation.

Specifically, it removes Article 19 from Regulation (EU) No 910/2014 (the eIDAS Regulation), with that deletion taking effect on 18 October 2024 — the same date this Directive begins to apply.

Article 19 of eIDAS previously contained security requirements for trust service providers, and its removal reflects that those obligations are now absorbed and governed under this Directive instead.

Important points:

  • Article 19 of Regulation (EU) No 910/2014 (eIDAS) is deleted as of 18 October 2024.
  • This deletion aligns with the date this Directive becomes applicable, signalling a transfer of regulatory responsibility for trust service provider security requirements to this Directive.
  • Trust service providers subject to eIDAS should note that the security obligations previously found in Article 19 of that Regulation will no longer exist there from that date.
