This opening article establishes the core content and presentation standards that must be met when drawing up a crypto-asset white paper.

It directly supports the white paper requirements set out in Regulation (EU) 2023/1114 (MiCA) by specifying how the information within those white papers must be presented, and by pointing to the Annex of this Regulation for the applicable templates.

The article distinguishes between three categories of crypto-assets — general crypto-assets, asset-referenced tokens, and e-money tokens — each of which has its own dedicated template.

Important points:

• Persons drawing up a crypto-asset white paper must present all required information in a way that is non-discriminatory, fair, clear, not misleading, concise, and comprehensible, without omitting material information.
• No single template applies to all crypto-assets — use the correct Annex template depending on whether the asset is a general crypto-asset, an asset-referenced token, or an e-money token.
• This article operates in direct connection with Articles 6(1), 19(1), and 51(1) of Regulation (EU) 2023/1114, meaning its obligations apply across all three white paper scenarios covered by MiCA.
