Artikel 92 Bevorstehende Anwendung für Anbieter sehr großer Online-Plattformen und sehr großer Online-Suchmaschinen

This is a brief transitional provision that establishes an early application date for a specific subset of entities.

It creates an exception to the general application date of the regulation (17 February 2024) for providers of very large online platforms and very large online search engines that receive their designation notification early enough that four months after that notification falls before 17 February 2024.

In other words, it ensures that early-designated providers are bound by the regulation sooner, rather than being able to wait until the general application date.

• The earlier application date is triggered by the designation notification under Article 33(4), specifically four months after that notification is received.
