Artikel 67 Änderung der Richtlinie (EU) 2020/1828
Summary What does Article 67 of the CRA regulation say?
This is a brief housekeeping article that amends an existing piece of EU legislation — Directive (EU) 2020/1828 on representative actions for the protection of the collective interests of consumers.
It does so by adding the Cyber Resilience Act (this regulation) to the list of Union acts contained in Annex I of that Directive.
This is significant because inclusion in that list means that infringements of this regulation by economic operators can be subject to representative actions brought on behalf of consumers.
Important points:
- The Cyber Resilience Act is formally added to Annex I of Directive (EU) 2020/1828, the EU representative actions directive.
- This article directly connects to Article 65 of this regulation, which explicitly states that Directive (EU) 2020/1828 applies to representative actions against economic operators for infringements of this regulation that harm consumers.
- The effect is that qualifying bodies can bring collective legal actions on behalf of consumers where economic operators breach the provisions of this regulation.
