Summary What does Article 78 of the Sixth anti-money laundering (AML 6) directive say?
This is the transposition article, setting out the deadlines by which Member States must convert the Directive into national law.
The general deadline is 10 July 2027, but the article carves out several exceptions for specific articles that carry either earlier or later implementation dates.
Member States are also required to notify the Commission and ensure any adopted measures reference this Directive.
Important points:
- Member States must bring national law into force to comply with this Directive by 10 July 2027 as the general deadline.

Die Mitgliedstaaten setzen die Rechts- und Verwaltungsvorschriften in Kraft, die erforderlich sind, um dieser Verordnung bis zum 10. Juli 2027 nachzukommen. Sie setzen die Kommission darüber in Kenntnis.
Abweichend von Unterabsatz 1 setzen die Mitgliedstaaten die Rechts- und Verwaltungsvorschriften in Kraft, die erforderlich sind, um Artikel 74 bis zum 10. Juli 2025, den Artikeln 11, 12, 13 und 14 bis zum 10. Juli 2026 und Artikel 18 bis zum 10. Juli 2029 nachzukommen.
Bei Erlass der in diesem Absatz genannten Maßnahmen nehmen die Mitgliedstaaten in den Vorschriften selbst oder durch einen Hinweis bei der amtlichen Bekanntmachung auf die vorliegende Richtlinie Bezug. Die Mitgliedstaaten legen die Methode für diese Bezugnahme fest.
Die Mitgliedstaaten teilen der Kommission den Wortlaut der wichtigsten nationalen Rechtsvorschriften mit, die sie auf dem unter diese Richtlinie fallenden Gebiet erlassen.
